Meet the Acupuncturist

Leo Nathaniel Bierman, MS, L.Ac.

Leo is committed to making holistic healthcare accessible and affordable, so that it can help people to live their everyday lives with greater happiness and health.

Leo is a Nationally Board Certified, New York State Licensed Acupuncturist. He received his Master’s of Science in Acupuncture with honors at Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York City, and his undergraduate degree in Comparative Religion from the Macaulay Honors College, at the City University of New York, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Leo practices an integrative approach to medicine and healing, drawing the best from different traditions to achieve maximum results and to get to the root of the issue. He integrates several styles of acupuncture, including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Kiiko Matsumoto acupuncture (KM), the world-renowned Japanese style which he studied for three years with Ms. Matsumoto herself, 5-Element Acupuncture, the distal acupuncture styles of Master Tung and Dr. Tan, and Trigger Point Dry Needling, and classical Tangible Qi-style acupuncture from Andrew Nugent-Head.

He combines these techniques with Tui Na (Chinese medical massage) Zang Fu Tui Na (medical organ massage), medical qigong, energy work, meditation, and movement-based practices to help resolve both acute and chronic issues of the body, mind, and spirit, and to put your health back in your hands.

Leo is also an ordained interfaith minister, through the One Spirit Interfaith Seminary, where he was trained to help address the spiritual challenges of people from diverse spiritual traditions, including those who do not subscribe to any particular path.

The tradition of medicine he comes from sees health as something that arises out of a balanced and right relationship with all things. Harmony and balance of the body, mind, and spirit are interdependent. When all are functioning harmoniously, we can naturally experience happiness, vitality, and a spontaneous joy in the experience of life itself. It is Leo’s desire and commitment to help you to find your own unique path to greater life and greater health.

He currently works in community clinics around the city, and operates both a private and community practice in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, as well as in Manhattan.
